Mood Disorders
Depression
Depression can be like a fog. The slightest task can feel impossible. Sleep can be erratic, excessive, or elusive. Appetite can be suppressed or amplified, with associated weight loss or gain. Concentrating and making decisions can be a struggle. Feelings of worthlessness can be intense and self-destructive. This experience can be recurrent or chronic. And therapy can help. At Centered Ground, clients often seek a comprehensive approach to their depression. This can include dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), and grief counseling in some cases.
Bipolar Disorder
In addition to extended periods of depression, bipolar disorder is characterized by extended periods of elevated mood or irritability, with reduced need for sleep, increased drive, and often uncharacteristic risky behavior. This can range from hypomanic to manic. While this disorder has strong biological underpinnings, the combination of CBT, DBT, and medication makes it possible to find balance. Beginning with a thorough screening to specify the diagnosis, Centered Ground can support you in this process.
